Deborah Shannon Deborah Shannon’s work has won her numerous prestigious awards as well as signature membership in the Southwestern Watercolor Society, the Texas Watercolor Society and in Associated Creative Artists. Recently she was invited to exhibit in Milan Italy. Shape, texture, and color are the primary elements the artist exploits to express her feelings in her paintings, which are enriched by a layering process. Often she strives to achieve a sense of abstraction without being nonrepresentational, a challenge she finds intriguing. Domestic architecture has always caught this artist’s interest because she sees it as where man and his environment intersect. Homes and barns not only reflect the wealth and physical needs of the builder but also his personality and his artistic sensibility. Shannon is particularly taken with the delightful eccentricity of the Victorian era and has done a series on the San Francisco Victorian. The Tour seeks to raise public awareness of the quality and diversity of artwork being produced by local artists and to demonstrate that art adds meaning and richness to community life.
