Bernard Bortnick
I am an architect and a painter. In 1990 I was recognized for having produced outstanding designs of buildings for which I was made a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects, (FAIA).
Formal Schooling:
I attended the Kansas City Art Institute and School of Design for two years before entering service in the U.S, Navy when I briefly attended the Coronado School of Fine Arts and produced award winning work.
I was accepted in the School of Architecture at Washington University in St.Louis, and after 5 years I graduated with a BA in Architecture. After that period I worked as an architect in Holland, Israel and the United States designing buildings nationally and internationally, many of which were recognized for their outstanding design characteristics.
Most recently, while my studio was being rebuilt I attended some classes at Brookhaven College in Dallas.
Exhibitions:
My work has been exhibited in Plano, Denton, The McKinney Ave. Contemporary, and at Brookhaven. Over a period of years I developed political cartoons and caricatures of prominent political figures many of which were published in the official paper of the Socialist Labor Party, The People.
