Ann
Adams
Pastel painter, Ann S. Adams, finds both inspiration and willing subjects
in the colorful plant life she encounters in her own backyard. Pastel
proves to be the perfect medium for her vision of saturated color.
Ann brings us
up close, abstracting the view so that we see these beautiful plants
with a fresh eye. Drawing on deep spiritual sensitivity, Ann recognizes
them as evidence of the "balance and peaceful order in our
lives- our gift from the Giver."
Of her process
she says, "By mixing today's techniques with old Master's
techniques. I combine methods of cropping, altering and printing
my composition. Although most of my subjects are composed when my
reference snapshot is first taken, I enjoy the liberty afforded
by modern techniques. After completing a painting I make a digital
recording of it and may print an archival edition, usually limited
to 7 prints."
Born in Corpus
Christi, Texas, Ann has lived in Dallas for 10 years. She has received
numerous awards, including Award of Excellence in the Pastel Society
of the Southwest Juried Exhibit, TVAA Citation Juried Exhibit, Visual
Arts Society of Texas National Juried Exhibit 2006, and her work
was included in New Texas Talent 2005, a prestigious juried exhibition
mounted annually by Craighead-Green Gallery. Ann was the 2006 President
of the Pastel Society of the Southwest, is a signature member of
Texas Visual Arts Association, and a member of The McKinney Avenue
Contemporary.
Her work can be found in private as well as corporate collections.
