Adriana
Cobo-Frenkel
Adriana is a native of Chile living in the USA since 1959, after receiving
a graduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Chile. Today
she is a professor of Biology at Richland College in Dallas, Texas.
Since the 1970's she has studied art in Dallas at UTD and Brookhaven
College and in Pietrasanta, Italy since 1987, where she has traveled
almost every summer to learn about carving marble and to obtain marble
to continue carving at her studio in Dallas.
Her art is an expression of her training in the sciences. She obtains
her inspiration in the organic and abstract shapes of nature. She
has chosen marble as a medium, a very challenging, nonetheless very
rewarding material. Many ideas are created in drawings or in clay.
Giving life, movement and rhythm to a rough and cold piece of marble
has become her greatest challenge.
